What’s New at Great Legs

We are currently working on creating more pages with homemade leg and feet beauty recipes. If you have one that you’d like to share with the rest of us, please contact me.

Sun Safety

By now I am sure you know all about the risks of sun bathing. But if you still like to hit the beach remember to:

  • Slather on the sunscreen. At least 15 SPF and don’t forget to re-apply frequently.
  • Do not use last year’s sunscreens as they tend to lose their strength.
  • Wear a pair of sunglasses with UV protection.
  • Wear a hat.
  • Drink lots of water to keep hydrated.
  • Limit your time on the beach
  • Avoid direct sunlight from 10 am to 4 pm

After Sun Relief

What if you overdo it and get a sunburn? If you think your sunburn is severe then do not hesitate and go see a doctor. If it’s only a mild redness, here is a simple do it at home recipe for after sun relief, courtesy of http://www.SpaIndex.com .

Ingredients:

  • 1 rough chunked cucumber
  • 2 Tbsp. Aloe Vera gel (or roughly the amount extracted from one fresh leaf)
  • 1/4 cup Glycerin
  • 1/4 cup rosewater
  • 2 drops rose essential oil

Instructions:

  1. Place cubes of cucumber into a lemon juicer or garlic press, to extract as much juice as possible.
  2. Mix juice with remaining ingredients.
  3. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Discolored Knees Solution

If your knees are darker and rougher than the rest of your legs, try this bleaching/exfoliating mask:

Ingredients:

  • 1 lemon
  • ¼ C buttermilk
  • Gauze to wrap around your knees(optional)

Instructions:

  1. Cut the lemon in half and squeeze the juice out.
  2. Take the rind and butterfly-cut it (cut in half, then cut it again without separating the quarters)
  3. Mix the juice with buttermilk.
  4. Apply the mixture to your knees and put the reminder in the lemon rind.
  5. Place the rind on your knees.
  6. Wrap with gauze.
  7. Leave it on for about 20 minutes.
  8. Rinse it with water.

Exercise Tip

If you don’t have time to hit the gym, don’t fret! There is plenty of things you can do to keep your legs in shape.

Here are some ideas:

  • Take the stairs
  • park your car further from the office and walk
  • Take a brisk walk or jog during your lunch hour
  • Do calf rises while brushing your teeth
  • Do lunges and squats (or other exercises) during the commercials
  • If you have a treadmill or an elliptical, park it in your TV room and use it during your favourite shows
