Electrolysis Permanent Hair Removal

A hair removal solution since 1875

Are you wondering if electrolysis permanent hair removal, can help you get rid of your unwanted leg hair?

Here we explore this procedure so read on, and find out if electrolysis is right for you.

What is it?

In this procedure, a very fine, sterile needle or probe is inserted into each, individual hair follicle, without puncturing the skin, and a small amount of electric current is discharged. This action basically destroys the follicle and stops the hair from re-growing.

The electrolysis is considered the only permanent hair removal method, as opposed to Laser, which is considered a permanent hair reduction method.

Who can do electrolysis?

Anybody! Electrolysis works for every hair type and every skin color.

How long is the treatment?

The length of the full treatment is measured in hours. And to remove hair from your lower legs, you would need probably more than 50 hours, however this varies and depends on hair growth and skin type. So as you can see you would need quite a few appointments to be hair free on the legs...

How many treatments are needed to achieve permanency?

Most individual hair will need only one treatment to be gone, however some might need 2 or even 3 to result in permanency.

How much does it cost?

The cost is based per hour and the fees vary among the electrologists, but do not expect to pay any less than $25/hr and more likely much more than that.

Is there side effects?

You might have redness and swelling of the treated area, but that should be gone within a few hours.

Is it really permanent?

This procedure has by far the best record for permanent hair removal if done correctly. And of course, just like with any other procedure, there will be people who are not satisfied with it. On average under 10% of people report some dissatisfaction

Does it hurt?

Some people describe it only as a discomfort, others say that it hurts... Pain is an individual and unique experience. If you have low pain threshold, you probably should expect more than "just discomfort", and discuss anaesthetic options with your electrologist.

My opinion

If you have a lot of time and money on your hands, then this procedure is right for you. If not, then consider it, to have your few hair on your chin or lip removed- not your legs. Going for hairs one by one is definitely too long and tedious of a process for my liking.
