Are you wondering if fitness pole dancing is something you might want to try?

If you though pole dancing was just for strippers, that makes two of us.

I never realized fitness pole dancing existed until my sister suggested we sign up for the classes.

And so we did.

Now I am totally hooked as it is the most fun and liberating workout I have ever done.

Not to mention that it increases your confidence and works every area of the body, legs included.

Oh! And there is absolutely no stripping involved!




So what is Pole Dancing all about?

The studio we signed up with is dedicated to fitness pole dancing. The classes are once a week for a solid hour. They offer levels one through five and transitional levels in between, if you feel that you didn't quite master the skills to advance higher.

pole dancing At the beginning of the class everybody starts off with a warm-up that progresses into a floor workout.

The floor workout includes exercises like sexy bicycle, sexy push-ups, sexy lunges and squads and of course sexy walk. All the movements are very slow and controlled, so you are really getting a kick butt workout.

During the floor exercises the second instructor takes three people to the poles at a time. They spend about 15 minutes learning the routine of the day. Once that's mastered they return to the floor workout and the next three people go up to the poles.

At the end of the class we have "The Community Pole". That's when you show off what you learned and the rest of the girls cheer and clap.




Who should try Pole Dancing?

If you think that you are too old, fat, clumsy or shy to give it a shot, do not fret. There is nine women in my class and we are all different ages and sizes. I think perhaps the oldest one must be in her fifties and the youngest in her twenties.

And we all felt awkward doing our sexy walk and sexy bicycle during the first class or two but we got over it. Nobody is there to judge others. We are all there to have a great time and a great workout.




If you have a man in your life

If you're in a relationship, what you take home from the classes is entirely up to you. However I can assure you that your partner will be asking for demonstrations after every class. That's when clothing might become optional:)

Funny thing... my husband didn't have a problem with me signing up for the pole dancing classes. Hmmm...
