On my vacation in hot, sunny Mexico, where you definitely cannot cover up your legs, I encountered a small problem...
Not only I slightly burned my legs, but I also met with some kind of sand fleas that left my legs looking like I had chicken pox.
One of the fellow vacationers came to my rescue, and gave me witch hazel extract which she swore, helped with the unsightly bites and also sun burn.
I took her word for it and applied it to my legs in the evening. To my great surprise, by the time the morning came, my legs looked so much better that I became a believer in Mother Nature's natural cures.
Since then I tried many other natural solutions that actually work, and I invite you to do the same.
Insect bites and skin cuts
Sunburn, mosquito bites or any other minor unsightly skin irritations can be alleviated with witch hazel extract. Buy it in any health store and apply it directly to the affected area.
Another great solution for bites and minor cuts is Tea Tree Oil which is antiseptic and has healing properties. You can find it at the health store and apply it directly to the bite or cut.
Bruises
Want to speed up the healing of those ugly bruises? Try a cream that contains arnica oil. Buy it at your health store.
Another option is a cream that contains vitamin K. It speeds up the healing process of bruises by clotting the blood.
Sunburn
- Aloe Vera! It has anti - inflammation agents that will help your skin heal from sunburn. Plus it will hydrate your skin.
- Apply plain yogurt to affected area, it will soothe and moisturize your damaged skin.
- Jump into the tub of vinegar and warm water. Add about a pint of vinegar (any kind). Just make sure the water is not hot as this will irritate your skin even more.
Razor burn
Soothe your uncomfortable razor burn with some aloe vera gel.
Dry, cracked knees
Try cocoa butter. It works wonders!
Discolored knees
Try this bleaching mask that will revive your knees:
- Juice 3 lemons and mix it with 1 cup of powdered milk.
- Add some water to make a thick paste.
- Apply it to your knees and leave it on for about 20 minutes.
- Scrub it off with a brush and rinse it off with warm water.
Tired legs
To help your tired legs relax, add some essential oils to your hot bath.
Which ones work best for achy muscles?
Try:
- marjoram - to improve circulation
- rosemary- to stimulate
- birch or eucalyptus - to ease tightness
- lavender - to calm
Also rubbing your legs with essential oils will sooth and invigorate them.
Best ones to try: peppermint, juniper, rosemary or thyme.
Cover up your "great legs problems"
You can hide your unsightly birthmarks, veins or other imperfections with body make up.
Make sure that you find a color that matches your legs flawlessly and get smudge-proof kind.
To apply I use my fingertips and blend it well. Wait 10 or 15 minutes before dressing to avoid staining your clothes.
