Great legs must have soft and smooth skin
Are you looking for a remedy for dry skin on your legs? Is your skin flaky and scaly? It is not only uncomfortable, but also not very appealing.
The good news is that you can kiss that dry skin good bye, and here you will find the ways to do it.
The first step in remedy for dry skin, is to take a good look at your nutrition.
Do you drink enough water? Are you eating healthy, nutritious foods high in vitamin A, beta carotene, vitamin E and fatty acids?
The chances are, you answered "no" to those questions.
Healthy eating habits is your key to healthy skin.
So let's get started and explore the foods and supplements, that are essential in remedy for dry skin:

Foods containing Vitamin A
This fat soluble vitamin helps your skin in looking silky and soft.
Sources of Vitamin A:
Fish liver oils, cantaloupe, carrots, pumpkin, sweet potato, mango, spinach, apricots, papaya, alfalfa.
If you choose the supplement option, keep in mind that vitamin A is stored in your body, so if you take too much it can result in toxicity.
Also if you're pregnant, or trying to get pregnant, you should not take extra supplements of Vitamin A , as it can cause birth defects. Stick to your prenatal vitamins only.
Foods containing Beta Carotene
It's a carotenoid that your body converts into Vitamin A.
Sources of Beta Carotene:
Goji berries, carrots, cantaloupe and plenty of other yellow, orange and red fruits and vegetables, as well as dark green vegetables.
If you choose to take supplements, keep in mind that:
- smokers are cautioned to avoid them
- if you take high amounts, the palms of your hands and the soles of your feet might turn orange. If that happens you should consult your doctor.
- consult your doctor if you have a medical condition or are pregnant or breast feeding, before starting any supplements.
Foods containing Vitamin E
The lack of this fat soluble vitamin can cause dry, itchy skin.
Sources of vitamin E:
Unprocessed vegetable oils, nuts, seeds, rose hips, dandelions, wheat germ.
If you choose to supplement, choose Vitamin E derived from natural sources.
Keep in mind that vitamin E can act as a blood-thinner, so consult your doctor if you are already on blood-thinners.

Water
We all know how important water is to our bodies. Without it we could not function!
And if you don't drink enough of it, your skin will suffer from dryness.
Drink at least 6-8 cups a day.
What about Remedy for Dry Skin from the outside?
Apart from consuming healthy, nutritious foods, there are numerous things you can do to have soft, supple skin.
Do not take hot baths
Hot water dries out your skin. Taking a shower is always a healthier choice for your skin, but if you have to have a bath...make sure the water is not too hot.
Add a cupful of powdered milk to the bath water
Milk contains lactic acid which will assist your skin in shedding the dead, dry layers and milk protein will help your skin in retaining the moisture. The result? Soft, smooth legs.
Moisturize your legs with a rich body lotion...
...right after toweling off. When you apply lotion while your skin is still damp, it locks the moisture in.
If you suffer from a very dry skin, it is a good idea to slap that lotion on, at least twice a day.
Don't use harsh soap
Regular soap tends to dry the skin out. And heavily scented ones can also irritate it.
Choose moisturizing soaps or body washes instead.
Avoid the sun
We all heard that one before. Sun will dry out your skin and increase your chances of skin cancer. If you just can't stay out of the sun, make sure that you use a good sun screen, at least 30 SPF. And Aloe Vera will soothe your skin following the sun exposure.
Do you love the way your legs look with a tan?
A good option to sun tanning are sunless lotions. They can be hard to apply and can cause streaks. Exfoliating your skin before hand will help with the even application.
Or you can head for the tanning salon and have someone airbrush you with color. For around $20 you can have that healthy, sun kissed look that will last for about a week. Ask your local tanning salon if they provide that service.
Use a humidifier
Dry skin is aggravated by air conditioning and central heating. If the air in your home is very dry, you might want to use a humidifier.
Avoid alcohol and caffeine.
They are both diuretics that will cause your skin to loose fluids and minerals.
Spread on the Shea Butter
It is a great natural moisturizer and a perfect remedy for dry skin.
