What Not to Wear

To make your legs look their best

Are you wondering what to wear and what not to wear to make your legs look their best?

We all have unique legs...

Short legs, long legs, skinny legs, thick legs etc., etc.

No matter what your leg shape and size, there is ways to beautify and camouflage with the clothes you wear.

On this page I put together some great fashion ideas on what to wear, and what to avoid, based on your shape and size.

So come, join us, and put your best leg forward!

General Rules

Your clothes should fit you right. Don't go bigger, especially if you have fuller figure, as it will not hide it, but make you look bigger.

On the other hand, do not go too tight. You want to avoid the "barely squeezed in" look, that will not only make you look bigger but also ridiculous.

Avoid panty hose or tights with horizontal stripes, as well as panty hose that are made of thick fabrics. They add thickness to your legs.

Ankle bracelets are a wonderful addition to any great legs. However only thin and feminine ones are flattering, so never wear thick and heavy ones, as they will make your legs look "cut off" and thicker.

What Not to Wear for Short Legs

Choose pants and jeans that are narrow and have a straight leg or boot cut style. High heels will complete the outfit and make your legs look even longer if the hem of the pants reaches mid heel.

Pants with vertical lines like cords will make your legs appear longer.

Do not cuff your pants at the bottom. That can "cut you off" from the rest of your body and make your legs look even shorter than they are.

When choosing a bathing suit or panties, grab ones that have a high cut legs- that will make them look longer.

Shorts should be fairly short. The more skin showing, the better.

What about skirts? To add length choose:

  • Mini skirts
  • Long skirts with high heels
  • A line skirts just below your knees paired up with nice heels.

Avoid:

  • Mid calf and low waist skirts

What Not to Wear for Skinny Legs

Wear mid calf skirts with the hem that stops at the shapeliest part of your calf.

When choosing shorts, go for short ones and avoid wide leg ones as they make your legs look like a pair of sticks.

What Not to Wear for Heavy Legs

Choose thin tights and panty hose in dark colors. Never wear them in light colors, thick fabrics or Heaven forbid, horizontal stripes.

Avoid stiletto heels and very pointy toes.

Avoid ankle boots, but choose tall boots.

If you want to cover up your thighs, choose shorts that are loose fitting with an elastic waist band, or shorts that resemble a flowing skirt.

What Not to Wear for Thick Ankles

    Avoid chunky heels.

Avoid ankle bracelets as they will bring attention to your ankles.

What Not to Wear for Bigger Behind

When choosing a skirt, you want to make sure it's a swing skirt made flow flowing fabric that will flow around your figure. Tight skirts are best avoided.

Want to draw attention away from your bottom half? Try wearing a long, dangling necklace or a long string of pearls and avoid chokers.

How about jeans? Try lower riding pair. Relaxed fit would be your best bet. Avoid jeans with small or no pockets, as that will make your butt appear bigger. Pockets should be regular size and right in the middle of your buttock.

When choosing underwear, a thong will help you avoid the bunching up effect, that can make your behind look bigger. Or choose body shaping underwear, that will pull your bottom in.

What Not to Wear for Tall Figure

If you don't want to look any taller then you want to avoid capris and shorter pants. Choose pants with straight legs and boot cuts.

What Not to Wear for Larger Figure

For slimming effects wear only dark colors, as they absorb the rays and give you the illusion of being thinner. Also wearing the same color from top to bottom will elongate and slim you down, but make sure you choose neutral, dark colors only.

Choose straight leg pants paired up with a long tunic. It will not only hide your bottom, but also it will give you the appearance of elongated figure.

When choosing jeans, relaxed fit with medium waist and straight leg would be your best choice. Always choose dark colored jeans and never go for acid washed or very light colored kinds.
